Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. - Romans 12:2

Shopping for Meaning? (Chap 4-5)
I hope that everybody had a great Christmas! :) What did you all do for Christmas? My family went all out with decorating and cooking because we invited my dad's side of the family for a potluck. We had a lot of fun with a gift exchange game, where we had some challenges to shoot some darts at a dartboard (some of my cousins are really into archery) and try to create the tallest structure with a stack of cards, all so that they could win and pillage another team! It was a lot of fun and a nice time to catch up with everyone. I can't believe that Christmas is already over.. soon it's going to be the New Year! Crazy!
Going back to the book, I felt like when I was reading these next few chapters, that it was really relevant given the Christmas shopping season that we are in. I haven't heard of Mr. Kozlowski's story before but I can definitely imagine that happening to someone, even if they were richer than most of the people that they knew. Kind of crazy how that works ("that" being "the love of money"). On another note, Mr. Chuck Colson does it again with his poignant questions that cuts to the heart of things. I was kind of surprised at how frank he was in addressing some of the guests when he was asked to share about his life experiences at a lavish party! This part really stuck out to me, especially his response to the last guest's question. He mentioned how he could see that the surroundings were indeed regal and that the guests obviously had all of the so-called good things in life, but he still asked, "What are you going to think on your deathbed, when you're lying there knowing that all of this is about to go away?" Based off of his question, I will ask a few of my own for you all:
- What legacy do you want to leave your loved ones after you die?
- What material possession do you treasure most? What gives this possession its value?
Hopefully this gives you something to chew on.
